What is Volkman Hookbill Bird Food made to provide?

It is formulated as a varied food for larger hookbills, with ingredients selected to encourage active, engaged feeding. The safflower-based blend offers steady energy, while its flavor is intended to maintain feeding enjoyment without relying on traditional sunflower blends.

• Designed around a safflower foundation.
• Combines different ingredient textures to encourage foraging.

What ingredients add variety to the blend?

The mix includes grains and seeds alongside dried banana, papaya, apple, carrot, coconut, and peppers. These dried ingredients bring visual interest and naturally occurring nutrients, while seeds contribute essential fats and protein when served as part of a balanced diet.

• Fruit ingredients include banana, papaya, and apple.
• Vegetable ingredients include carrot and peppers; coconut is also included.

How does the mix support natural feeding behavior?

A range of grains, seeds, and textures gives birds more than one type of ingredient to explore while feeding. This variety encourages natural foraging behavior and is designed to help prevent selective eating, rather than offering a blend built around a single seed type.

• Different textures create variety during feeding.
• Flavorful ingredients support feeding enjoyment.

Who is this 8 lb food suited to?

This blend is intended for larger hookbills, with an 8 lb (3.63 kg) quantity for households choosing a food in this size. It works as one part of a broader diet that includes fruits, vegetables, and other wholesome foods, rather than as a replacement for that dietary variety.
