NEST ESSENTIALS 18-Inch Dog Herding Ball for Outdoor Training, Heavy-Duty 1680D Fabric

NEST ESSENTIALS is an 18-inch (45.72 cm) dog herding ball for supervised outdoor training, built with heavy-duty 1680D fabric and a YKK double-zipper system.

• 18-inch diameter — gives dogs a ball to push, chase and steer during herding play.
• Heavy-duty 1680D fabric and reinforced construction — made for active push-and-chase sessions.
• YKK double-zipper system — a practical construction detail for a ball made for active play.
• One launch handle and no straps — gives dogs fewer straps to bite during herding practice.
• Ball, improved pump, inflation accessories, training clicker and setup guidance — brings key setup items together.

Dogs with strong drive often need an activity built around purposeful movement. This ball is made for supervised outdoor sessions where a dog can guide and pursue a larger object, rather than simply retrieve a small ball. Its design suits herding practice and training play with an owner present.

What kind of play is this herding ball made for?

It is designed for outdoor herding play, with dogs pushing, chasing and steering the ball. Border Collies, Australian Shepherds, Heelers and other active breeds are named as a natural fit. The intended interaction involves a dog using its nose, chest and shoulders to move the ball. Herding is the focus, rather than a fetch routine: the single handle is for launching, and the design has no straps for a dog to bite.

• Use it during supervised play outdoors.
• Redirect biting; this is a herding toy, not a chew or tug toy.

How big is the ball, and what does its size mean for play?

The ball has an 18-inch diameter, a size intended to encourage purposeful movement rather than interaction with a small fetch ball. Dogs can push and steer it with their nose, chest and shoulders as they move around it. This format is designed for herding and outdoor training play, not chewing or tugging.

• The diameter is the key size to consider for your dog and play area.
• Choose supervised sessions where the dog can move around and guide the ball.

What comes with the ball, and how do you set it up?

The package includes the herding ball, an improved pump, inflation accessories, a training clicker and setup guidance. Follow the included instructions when preparing the ball. A setup video in the product gallery shows how the cover should look when it is properly inflated, giving you a visual reference during setup.

• Use the included pump and inflation accessories to inflate the ball.
• Refer to the setup guidance and gallery video for the correct inflated-cover appearance.
• The training clicker is included as part of the kit.

NEST ESSENTIALS suits owners of active, high-drive dogs who want supervised outdoor herding practice, including owners of Border Collies, Australian Shepherds and Heelers. It is intended for pushing and steering, not for chewing or tugging. Its herding-focused size, strap-free design and included setup items make it a fit for purposeful training play.
