Birds need opportunities to move, explore and use their natural climbing and pecking behaviors. These seagrass mats add an activity and resting surface to a cage, and can also be set up as a foraging wall with toys or decorations attached to attract a bird’s interest.

What can birds do on the seagrass mats?

Birds can climb, walk, perch, chew, peck or rest on the woven surface. The mat works as a climbing net, a cushion for resting and a swing, giving a bird different ways to engage with its cage environment. Climbing and moving across the net can help develop coordination and balance, while activity may help reduce destructive behaviors.

• Use the mat as a DIY foraging wall by hanging toys or decorations on it.
• Offer a surface suited to climbing, biting and pecking behaviors.

Which birds and pets are these mats suitable for?

The mats are suitable for many birds, including parrots, pigeons, lovebirds, cockatoos and parakeets. They can also be used by lizards, bearded dragons, chameleons, snakes, hamsters, guinea pigs and rabbits.

• Bird examples include lovebirds, cockatoos and parakeets.
• Other listed animal examples include bearded dragons, guinea pigs and rabbits.

How do you clean the seagrass mats?

Let the mats dry, then scrub them to remove dust and stains. This straightforward cleaning method is suitable for maintaining the woven surface between uses.

• Dry the mat before scrubbing.
• Scrub away dust and stains.

Hamiledyi’s seagrass mats suit bird owners looking to add a climbable, chewable resting area to a cage, as well as keepers of the other listed small pets and reptiles. The set combines two handwoven activity surfaces with hooks for cage hanging.
