For households whose routines revolve around letting a dog or cat outside, a pet door offers a way for pets to move between indoors and outdoors without waiting for a scheduled potty break. The PetSafe Freedom is designed for everyday access through a compatible door, while its closing panel gives you a way to restrict that access when needed.

How does the PetSafe Freedom pet door help pets come and go?

The flexible flap gives medium pets a passage between the home and outdoors, so they can use the door independently. Its magnetic closure, tinted flap and weather stripping help limit drafts and the influence of outdoor temperatures around the opening.

PetSafe offers the Freedom door in four sizes; this medium model is designed for pets weighing up to 40 lb (18.1 kg). The opening size helps you assess whether your pet can pass through comfortably.

• For dog and cat access between indoors and outdoors.
• A medium-size option for pets up to 40 lb (18.1 kg).

Which doors and pets does this medium model fit?

This model fits interior and exterior doors that are ⅜ to 2 in (0.95 to 5.08 cm) thick and is made for medium pets. Measure the door thickness and compare your pet with the flap opening before choosing this size.

The door is suitable for storm, wood, PVC and metal doors. Its aluminum frame has reinforced corners, a construction detail intended to stand up to wear from active pets and use in multi-pet households.

• Compatible door materials: storm, wood, PVC and metal.
• Use the stated door-thickness range to assess fit.

What comes with the PetSafe Freedom pet door, and how can access be controlled?

The package includes a cutting template, detailed instructions and installation hardware for a do-it-yourself installation. Once fitted, the slide-in closing panel lets you control whether pets can use the opening.

Closing the panel can help keep pets indoors and discourage stray animals from entering. The flap and weather stripping provide additional barriers around the passage, while the panel offers a separate way to restrict access when you want to manage outdoor trips.

• Included installation items: cutting template, instructions and hardware.
• Slide-in panel for limiting access to the outdoors.
