hygger Aquarium Hang-On-Back Filter for 151–284 L Tanks, 315 GPH Adjustable Flow

The hygger Aquarium HOB Filter is an external hang-on-back power filter for 40–75 gallon (151–284 L) fish tanks, with adjustable water flow up to 315 GPH (about 1,192 L/h) and replaceable filter media.

• Fits aquariums in the 40–75 gallon range — choose it for a tank within its stated capacity.
• Adjustable flow, up to 315 GPH — set the water movement with the knob on top.
• Clog reminder LED — alerts you when water overflow around the chamber signals a clogged cartridge.
• Hang-on-back design — mounts outside the aquarium wall to preserve space inside the tank.
• Waterfall-style return — sends filtered water back into the aquarium, helping agitate and oxygenate the water.

This filter is made for aquarium keepers who want filtration mounted outside the tank, with flow they can adjust and filter media they can replace or add to as needed. The external position also lets you remove the unit for cleaning without having to disturb the fish. Its extendable intake and sponge-covered inlet make it adaptable to tank depth while helping keep small fish and shrimp from being drawn in.

How does the hygger HOB filter return water to the tank?

Filtered water flows back as a small waterfall, creating water agitation and helping oxygenate the aquarium. Use the top knob to adjust the flow to suit your setup; the maximum rate is 315 GPH. The hanging format keeps the filter body outside the aquarium rather than using space within it.

• Mounts over the aquarium wall.
• Flow adjustment is controlled from the top of the filter.
• The return produces a trickling sound.

What filtration media comes with this aquarium filter?

The filter comes with a cartridge that combines dual-sided sponge cotton and ultra-activated carbon, plus a bio-filter plate. The cartridge media filters fish waste and leftover food, and helps remove odors and discoloration. The plate provides surface area to support biological filtration.

• Two types of media are included: a cartridge and a bio-filter plate.
• Media can be added or replaced as needed.
• The design supports both mechanical and biological filtration.

How does the intake fit different aquarium depths?

The intake tube extends so you can adjust its length to the depth of your tank. A sponge on the water inlet helps prevent small fish or shrimp from being sucked into the intake, making this a practical feature for tanks with smaller inhabitants.

• Adjust the intake tube length to match tank depth.
• The inlet sponge helps shield small fish and shrimp.
• The LED reminder turns on when overflow around the chamber indicates a clogged cartridge and filter pads need replacing.

The hygger Aquarium HOB Filter suits aquarium owners with a 40–75 gallon tank who want adjustable return flow, an external hanging format and replaceable filter media. Its extendable intake, inlet sponge and clog reminder make it a considered fit for routine aquarium filtration where protecting tank space and monitoring cartridge clogging matter.
