Back problems can make everyday movement and rest more difficult for a dog. This brace is designed to support the middle and lower back while allowing natural mobility, including during walks and potty breaks. It can be worn indoors or outdoors as part of a care routine guided by your veterinarian.

What areas and conditions does the brace support?

Fico’s brace supports the thoracic and lumbar regions, or the middle and lower back. It is intended for use during care for IVDD, slipped or herniated discs, spinal arthritis, and recovery after back surgery. The support is designed to help limit sudden, painful twisting while a dog walks, sits or rests.

• Provides coverage along the spine.
• Designed to help maintain natural mobility during supported movement.

Can I adjust the level of spinal support?

Yes. Rigid splints sit in built-in pockets along the spine, and you can remove them gradually as recovery progresses, following your veterinarian’s advice. Use all the splints for firmer stabilization in the early stage, then take them out one by one as appropriate. This adjustable design changes the support level rather than keeping it the same throughout recovery.

• The number of splints varies by brace size.
• Splints are removable from the built-in pockets.

How do I choose a size and use the brace?

Choose from XS to XL by measuring your dog’s back from the base of the neck to the base of the tail and comparing that length with the size chart; breed or weight alone is not enough to select a size. The adjustable neck, leg and two belly straps secure the fit, and the design allows dogs to pee and poop without removing the brace. Good to know: wear it during the day, then remove it for evening rest and overnight unless your veterinarian advises otherwise.

• Water-resistant neoprene can be worn on rainy walks.
• Hand-washable construction includes reinforced stitching and fully adjustable straps.
• The included catalogue covers fitting, helping your dog get used to the brace and when to use it, with links to fitting videos.

This brace is suited to dogs with long backs and small dogs, including Dachshunds, Corgis, French Bulldogs and Chihuahuas, as well as cats with back problems. It gives caregivers an adjustable way to support the middle and lower back during a veterinarian-guided care routine.
