FenceMate is a patented dog safety harness designed to help keep small dogs from slipping through fence openings, with attached fence-blocking balls and an adjustable fit for a 19–29 inch chest (48.26–73.66 cm).
FenceMate is made for toy, miniature, and small dogs that spend time in a fenced yard or on a high-rise apartment balcony. Its attached blockers are intended to help prevent a dog from squeezing through openings, so a properly fitted harness can give your pup more freedom to explore without staying on a leash the entire time.
The Medium fits a chest girth from 19 to 29 inches (48.26 to 73.66 cm). Measure around your dog’s body behind the front legs, passing the tape beneath the widest part of the rib cage. If the measurement falls between two sizes, choose the smaller size.
Adjust the straps after putting the harness on; correct fit matters because the blockers can only do their job when the harness sits properly. If adjustment does not produce a suitable fit, the selected size may be wrong for your dog.
The FenceMate balls are attached to the harness to make it harder for a dog to pass through gaps in rod iron, wood, or metal fencing. The patented design is intended to help prevent escapes while allowing a dog to explore a yard or balcony more independently.
The balls are fastened with a plastic zip tie. FenceMate chose this type of attachment after finding other connectors could rust or feel uncomfortable against a dog’s coat. The balls can be cut off if you do not want them, but the harness will then no longer provide its fence-blocking function.
The harness has a 3/4-inch-wide (1.905 cm) construction and is designed to let a properly fitted dog run, jump, swim, play, nap, and explore. Its ABS construction is water- and weather-resistant for outdoor use.
FenceMate is adjustable at all straps. The harness is intended to stay securely on the dog when fitted correctly, while the attached balls help address fence-gap escapes. FenceMate is made by a US-based company focused on the problem of dogs getting through fences.
Open the buckle and let your dog step into the harness, keeping the leash rings at the top of the neck. Tighten the straps until the fit is comfortable yet snug enough for safety.
Take time to adjust each strap before outdoor use. A secure fit supports the harness’s intended role and helps keep it from slipping off during wear.
FenceMate is best suited to small-dog owners who want to support safer, more independent yard or balcony time and whose dog fits the Medium chest range. It combines adjustable straps with attached blockers intended to help prevent passage through fence openings.
